The Postgraduate Programme “Applied Informatics” was established by the ΦΕΚ 3300/Β’/28-6-2022. It awards a Diploma of Postgraduate Studies (M.Sc.) and is a conversion course. It is addressed to scientists, graduates of Departments that do not belong to the field of Computer Science and Information Technology, giving them the opportunity to change direction in relation to their undergraduate studies and focus on a completely new and innovative field, such as the field of Computer Science and Digital Technology in general.
The aim of the Programme is to promote knowledge, to develop research and to train scientists for the needs of the labour market, who are not graduates of Computer Science Departments, in order, on the one hand, to meet the great and constantly increasing demand of the labour market for IT executives, and on the other hand, to provide job prospects to graduates of schools where unemployment is observed. These are the Humanities and Philosophy faculties and some faculties of Science, such as Mathematics, Physics, etc. Similar programmes have been quite popular for several years in many countries both in Europe (such as Great Britain, France, the Netherlands) and in the rest of the world (such as the USA). They aim to train graduates in a new subject and prepare them for specific professions.
The programme aims to bridge the gap between the skills of graduates (from non-computer science departments) and the needs of the labour market for IT and digital technology knowledge and skills more broadly. The knowledge, training and development of digital skills will be the driving force with which the students of the MSc will be able to cope with the increased technological demands of the market and international competition.
Studies can be either full-time or part-time. The duration of study for the award of a Master’s degree is defined:
Upon completion of their studies, graduates will have specialised in the field of Information Technology and Digital Technology in general, as they will:
The course content is closely linked to cutting-edge technological issues, but also to labour market trends. For this reason, the programme will be periodically updated, following international trends, as reflected in the respective programmes of foreign universities that have integrated such MSc programs into their curricula. In addition, the needs of the market, as expressed by relevant bodies such as SEV, SEPE, Chambers of Commerce, etc., will be taken into account in the design and adaptation of the curriculum.
Finally, among the objectives of the MSc is the preparation for postgraduate studies at doctoral level in the subjects of the MSc, but also in interdisciplinary subjects related to the undergraduate studies of the students, providing the necessary skills for students to conduct original research. This is achieved through a variety of means, such as familiarization with how to conduct a literature review, identification of valid literature sources, systematic study of research articles and studies as part of the preparation of papers, as well as the attendance of invited lectures by distinguished visiting researchers of the Department of Computer Science and Telematics of Harokopio University.
You can apply for the 2022-2023 academic year between 9/9-30/9 2022.

The teaching of the educational modules of the MSc is in Greek and/or English. The writing of the Dissertation can be done in Greek or in English.
The lecturers of the Program consist of both faculty members of the Department of Computer Science and Telematics, Harokopio University, and external lecturers, distinguished scientists in the field of computer science and digital technology in general, PhD holders.
In addition, computer scientists, postgraduate degree holders or PhD candidates participate in the laboratory support of the students.
The Assembly of the Department of Computer Science and Telematics, with a sense of social sensitivity and responsibility, decided to reduce the tuition fees for the academic year 2022-2023 to the amount of three thousand four hundred euros (3.400€).
They are paid in instalments as follows:

The duration of study for the award of a Master’s degree is defined as:
For serious reasons and at the request of the student, the Board of Trustees may extend the duration of studies, following a reasoned recommendation of the Board of Trustees. The extension may not exceed half of the normal duration of study.
30% of the total number of students admitted to the MSc are exempted from the obligation to pay tuition fees, in accordance with the relevant legislation.
Those who receive a scholarship from another source are not entitled to an exemption.
The Department has modern classrooms and fully equipped laboratories of computers, multimedia applications, telecommunications, Internet of Things applications and private cloud computing infrastructure that support the operation, teaching and research needs of the MSc.
In August 2013 the Department moved to its new premises at 9 Omirou Street in Tavros. The new privately owned building of the University fully serves the needs of the Department and has 6 floors and 3 basements (2 underground parking).
On the 1st floor of the building there is a large room with a capacity of 120 people (amphitheatre) and 3 smaller rooms that serve the educational needs of the department.
The 2nd floor laboratory is used exclusively by the students of the Department of Computer Science & Telematics, in order to support the courses that require the completion of laboratory exercises.
