Student Affairs

The activities of the Department of Student Affairs of Harokopio University are related to the following:

  • Ensuring the handling of procedures concerning the feeding of students
  • Provision for the processing of procedures relating to the granting of housing allowance to students
  • Arranging for the collection, publication and distribution of teaching notes
  • Αrranging for the collection of applications for student loans approved by the departments and forwarded to the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs
  • Issue and issue of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
  • Monitoring the implementation of the decisions of the Senate, the Academic Councils and the Academic Councils Monitoring the implementation of the decisions of the Senate, Academic Departments and Rector’s Authorities on student excursions, loans, financial aid and scholarships

In the new building of the University in Tavros (9 Omirou Street) the Student Restaurant operates, where all members of the University Community can be fed, either free of charge or for a fee. The restaurant is open throughout the year, except for the months of July and August. Students who meet the conditions and criteria required receive a meal card, after submitting an ELECTRONIC APPLICATION, which they present when entering the University restaurant.

Requirements for free meals for the 2022-2023 academic year

According to the Joint Ministerial Decision: Φ.5/65835/Β3/18.06.2012, the following categories are entitled to free meals for the academic year 2022-2023:

Α. Active students of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Greece, in their first, second and third cycle of studies, as defined in article 2 of law 4009/2011 (A’ 195), provided that they do not already hold a degree, postgraduate or doctoral title, respectively.

Β. i) Students registered as hosted students in Greek Universities who come from other Greek Universities under educational or research cooperation programs, as defined in article 36 paragraph 2 (a) and (b) of law 4009/2011 (A’ 195).

ii) Students registered as hosted students in Greek Universities who come from corresponding Institutions of foreign countries under educational or research cooperation programs, as defined in article 36 paragraph 2 (a) and (b) of law 4009/2011 (A’ 195).

C. Students who are temporarily transferred from one Greek University to another according to the Organization of the source Institution, as defined in article 36 paragraph 2 (e) of law 4009/2011 (A’ 195).

D. Foreign scholarship holders of the Ministry of Education & Religious Affairs who pursue undergraduate studies in Greek Universities provided they meet the requirements, except for cases (B)(ii) and (C).

NOTE: The application will declare the INCOME FOR THE IMPOSITION OF CONTRIBUTION, as it appears in the tax clearance of 2021.

ATTENTION: Students who have completed the maximum years of study (6 years for undergraduate, 3 years for postgraduate and 5 years for doctoral studies) are not eligible for free meals.

TERMS OF OPERATION OF THE RESTAURANT

1. The catering service is provided in the University’s restaurant located at Tavros – Omirou 9– Postal Code 17778, every day of the week (seven days).

  • The restaurant will not operate on Christmas holidays, Easter holidays (15 days, from the Sunday of Palms to the Sunday of St. Thomas), and during summer according to the applicable legislation.
  • In case of extension of the academic year, the students’ catering service is extended for a corresponding period of time.

2. The meal times for students are:

  • FOR ALL DAYS, BREAKFAST AT 08:00 – 09:00 a.m.
  • FOR MONDAY TO FRIDAY, LUNCH AT 12:00 – 15:30 p.m. AND DINNER AT 18:00 – 20:30 p.m.
  • FOR WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS, LUNCH AT 12:00 – 18:30 p.m.

 

Note: The university students (undergraduate, postgraduate) that are not eligible for free meals, can have access to the daily meal services at a price of 3.00 EUR/meal without VAT. These individuals will pay the corresponding amount per meal.

The institution of “Student Advocate” (FEK 78/22.01.2018, B’) has been established and operates at Harokopio University, with the following responsibilities:

– mediation between students and teachers or administrative services of the institution

– legal compliance within the framework of academic freedom

– addressing cases of mismanagement

– preservation of the smooth functioning of the institution

The Student Advocate has no jurisdiction over student exams and grades.

The Student Advocate investigates cases, either on his/her own or following a student report, and mediates with the competent bodies of the Institution for their resolution.

The student transportation card is issued by the Electronic Service for Student transportation card.

Medical and Hospital Care for Students without health insurance

Students (undergraduate, postgraduate) without insurance are entitled to full medical and hospital care in the National Health System (NHS) by providing their Social Security Number (AMKA) [Law 4452/2017 (A 17) para. 3 of article 31, by analogy with Law 4368/2016 (A 83) article 33].

Therefore, with the implementation of Law 4452/2017, as of September 1st, 2017, Harokopio University does not issue health booklets to students without health insurance.

Furthermore, students who have received their health booklets from the Student Affairs Service are informed that as of 01/09/2017, the booklets are no longer valid.
